Red Spotted Newt
I was at my cousin's place in the Poconos this Spring and enjoyed watching these little red spotted newts scooting around a pond on the edge of some woods. They are just so cute and I liked playing with them when I was a little girl , making villages out of moss and populating it with newts. I wanted to ink a smaller piece for demonstration purposes at the Kutztown Folk Festival and this is what I made. I love the smooth cool round water worn rocks and tried to make it seem as if the newt was liking his choice of seating. YES, it was a HOT week the week I inked this so cool wet rocks and ponds were a very refreshing thought. . The image itself is 4" x 6" so that the newt is pretty close in size to a real one. Limited edition prints are available for $35.00. The original is sold.
Koi Pond II
Koi Pond 1 was so much fun to ink I did it again with a trio of koi this time. Periwinkle blue iris & brown cat tails anchor the gold & orange of the fish. The original is 13" wide & 20 " long and is double matted behind a walnut brown wooden frame. It can be purchased for $950.00 . There are Limited Edition (300) , signed and numbered prints in two sizes.
