Promised Land State Park is located in the Pocono Mt. area , Pennsylvania. I used to tent camp there a great deal . Part of the fun of camping there was it's rustic wooded camping area with lots of reasons to explore the area. I would easily find snakes,deer, many birds,small woodland creatures to watch or sketch. Back at the campsite I would find it was ME being watched , by chipmunks. You could not relax tentside with a sandwich or snack without one of them warily sneaking up , eventually finding bravery enough to climb on top of your toes. Then , holding onto your pant leg with little chipmunk fingers , it would look up begging with black brown shiny eyes....share a bit of your lunch ... please? Absolutely charmed , I of course , would. If you were forgetful and left camp with the cooler open or perhaps cookies left out , well , then all was fair game and you would find the empty food containers scattered just outside camp with no please or thank you. I do not condone feeding wild animals as it does them no good to depend on humans , forgetting wild ways. But..they ask so sweetly and would take it anyway so...I complied with the wishes of this small creature's heart.
The flower is a Trillium. They are among the first of the woodland flowers to emerge in spring and so their folk lore name is "wake robins" as it seems the robins arrive soon after they do. I put a single gray robins wing feather under the flowers to make us think of spring.
The original of this picture is 11" wide by 16" tall. It is double matted inside a frame that echoes the feather that lays beneath the Trillium. The price of this inking is $ 2000.00 . There's my girl , Cookie , resting up after dinner . I wanted to ink a picture that would show off her sleek black fur and the snow white azaleas that she hides under. Thats all there is to this. A serene picture with lots of black and white contrasts and the detail of white whiskers on Cookie's sweet face and the whiskery stamen & pistils in the azalea. In the flowers there are large bumble bees loving the flowers in their own way. The original is double matted in a dark chocolate colored wood frame . The image itself is aprox 12" wide and 15" long . It is available for purchase for $ 2000.00 . Limited Edition (300) signed & numbered prints are available.

 "The Forgotten Bee Skep" is a painting that mixes a few favorite memories and images together. I like that someone forgot about that old bee skep but others made use of it. Thats a cozy thought. I am also fascinated by bees . My grandfather kept them. One time the queen left her hive and the colony followed. I watched Grandpop don the bee suit and scoop the angry bees off a tree with his hands till he found the queen. He returned her to her throne and the rest followed home. To me , he was superman.  This painting is a scene lifted directly from my own garden..the zinnias were perfect in red. Cookie's (my feline friend) behavior was not perfect as she regularly chased this dear bunny.
