I was at my cousin's place in the Poconos this Spring and enjoyed watching these little red spotted newts scooting around a pond on the edge of some woods. They are just so cute and I liked playing with them when I was a little girl , making villages out of moss and populating it with newts.  I wanted to ink a smaller piece for demonstration purposes at the Kutztown Folk Festival and this is what I made. I love the smooth cool round water worn rocks and tried to make it seem as if the newt was liking his choice of seating. YES, it was a HOT week the week I inked this so cool wet rocks and ponds were a very refreshing thought. 

 The original is double matted in a dark frame for $250.00. If you saw the morel mushroom group I inked last autumn & winter , the frame around the newt is the same. The image itself is 4" x 6" so that the newt is pretty close in size to a real one.  Limited edition prints are available too.

This is exactly how I saw the bears last October. I was driving towards Waynesboro Virginia, taking the Skyline Drive of course and turned a corner and there they were.  It was a beautiful place bright in the sun with red sumac and white birches , there was thistle and milkweed everywhere. The black bears stood out in that small opening between the forest's edge and behind the stone wall that follows all of Skyline Drive. What a nice surprise it was to see them so close. If you have never been there I recommend the trip as it's relaxing and beautiful and the views are wonderful. You can just drive and enjoy or get out of the car and hike trails into the woods so it is as restful or vigorous a trip as you wish to make it.

The original Skyline Drive is smaller and more of a step back from the subject than my usual works are. It is double matted in a dark carved woodsy frame and the image itself is about 6 1/2 " x 9 1/2" . The original is for sale for $650.00. Limited edition prints are also available.

A small sweet simple picture of autumn. Acorns and Oak Leaves.  I inked this one in public while exhibiting art at the Bombay Hook Wildlife Refuge in Delaware.  People are often curious about how I work so I took my act on the road sorta speak...in miniature.  The picture is only 3" x6" and the original is double matted in a dark wood rustic frame and is for sale for $500.00 .
